At Cargo Go, we don’t do fine print, hidden agendas, or junk mail. We respect your privacy, and we only collect the information we actually need to quote, sell, deliver, and support your shipping container purchase nothing more. We never sell your personal information to data brokers, marketing lists, or unrelated third parties, full stop.
This policy explains exactly what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with (and why), and what rights you have over your data all in plain English. It applies to our website, phone and email enquiries, in-depot visits, and all orders placed with us.
Cargo Go is an Australian-owned and operated business, and we comply fully with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. Information We Collect
We only collect information that helps us deliver accurate quotes, get your container to you safely, and provide after-sales support. We never ask for unnecessary personal details.
Information you give us directly

- Payment information: Billing address, card/bank details, or finance application information. Important: We do not store full credit card numbers on our own servers. All payments are processed by our PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway provider.
- Communications: Any messages, feedback, product reviews, or support enquiries you send us via email, phone, social media, or our online quote/contact forms.
Information collected automatically on our website
- Technical data including your IP address, browser type, device type, referring website, pages visited, time spent on site, and exit pages, collected via Google Analytics and standard website logs to help us fix errors, improve site speed, and make our website easier to use.
- Cookie data to remember quote form inputs, shopping cart contents, and preference settings.
Information from third parties
- Delivery confirmations, driver notes, and access updates from our vetted transport partners when you have an active order
- Payment confirmation from our payment processor
- Publicly available information (e.g. public road access details from mapping tools) where needed to plan safe delivery to your site
2. How We Use Your Information
We only use your personal information for purposes directly related to providing you with our products and services:
- Preparing accurate, all-inclusive quotes for containers and delivery with no hidden fees
- Processing and confirming your order and payment
- Coordinating delivery: We share only your delivery address, contact phone number, and access notes with our transport partners and drivers, solely so they can deliver your container safely and call you when they are en route or on site. We never share your details for unrelated marketing.
- Sending you delivery updates, order confirmations, invoices, and after-delivery warranty support
- Responding to your questions, quote requests, or customer support enquiries
- If you explicitly opt in: Sending you occasional updates about new container stock, limited special offers, and storage/tiny home build tips. You can unsubscribe from these marketing messages at any time with one click.
- Improving our website, product range, and customer service based on how visitors use our site
- Complying with our legal obligations, including Australian Consumer Law requirements, 7-year tax record-keeping rules, and lawful requests from regulators
3. When We Disclose Your Information
We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We only share your information when strictly necessary to deliver our services, with:
- Transport and hiab delivery partners: Only the minimum information needed to complete your delivery (address, site access notes, contact phone) no payment or irrelevant personal details. All our transport partners are contractually required to protect your information and delete it after delivery is complete.
- Payment providers: Our PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway (Stripe, eWay, or your nominated provider) processes card and bank payments on our behalf. We never see or store your full card details on our own servers.
- Modification and fabrication teams: If you order custom container modifications (personnel doors, windows, insulation, electrical fitouts, paintwork), we share your order specifications with our trade teams, but not your personal contact details unless we need to coordinate site-specific work.
- Trusted service providers: Web hosting providers, transactional email delivery services, and customer support tools, all of whom are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and data protection requirements.
- Legal and regulatory bodies: Only where required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or the safety of our customers and staff.
Note: Some of our service providers (e.g. Google Analytics, global payment gateways) may process data outside Australia. We only work with providers who maintain data protection standards equivalent to the Australian Privacy Principles.
4. Marketing Communications
We will only send you marketing emails or SMS about new stock, special offers, or container tips if you explicitly opt in to receive them. Every marketing message we send includes a clear, one-click unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by clicking that link, emailing us at privacy@cargogo.com.au, or replying STOP to SMS messages.
We will always send you critical transactional messages about your quote, order, delivery, or warranty even if you opt out of marketing, so you never miss important updates about an active purchase. We never make unsolicited cold sales calls.
5. Cookies & Website Tracking
Our website uses cookies (small text files stored on your device) for three limited purposes:
- Essential cookies: Required for quote forms, shopping cart functionality, and site security. These cannot be disabled if you want to use our online quote or ordering tools.
- Analytics cookies: Used via Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site (which pages are popular, where users get stuck, load times) so we can improve content, layout, and speed. These cookies collect anonymised data that cannot identify you individually unless you submit a form.
- Advertising cookies: If we run online advertising (Google Ads, Meta/Facebook), these cookies help us show relevant ads to people who have visited our site and measure ad performance. You can opt out of these at any time via your browser ad settings or Google Ads Preferences.
You can disable non-essential cookies at any time through your browser settings, though this may limit some functionality of our quote and ordering tools.
6. How We Protect Your Information
We take reasonable, industry-standard steps to keep your personal information secure:
- Full SSL/TLS encryption on all pages of our website to protect data transmitted between your browser and our servers
- Restricted access to customer data: only staff who need your information to process quotes, orders, or delivery coordination can access it
- Secure, regularly updated, password-protected hosting with firewall protection
- No storage of full credit card or bank details on our own systems
- Secure deletion of customer data once it is no longer needed for legal, tax, or customer service purposes (we keep order records for 7 years to meet Australian tax requirements, after which they are permanently deleted)
No online data transmission is 100% secure, and while we take all reasonable steps to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. We will notify you promptly in the unlikely event of a data breach that puts your information at risk, as required by Australian privacy law.
7. Site Photos & Access Information
If you send us photos of your property or delivery site to help us plan delivery (e.g. gate width, ground slope, overhead power lines, preferred drop location), we use these photos solely to confirm safe delivery access and coordinate with our drivers. We delete these photos within 30 days of completed delivery, unless you request we keep them on file for future container repositioning or additional orders. We never publish or share your site photos publicly without your explicit written consent.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Request access to any personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Request deletion of your personal information where we no longer have a legitimate or legal reason to keep it
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time
- Lodge a complaint if you believe we have mishandled your personal information
To exercise any of these rights, simply email our privacy officer at privacy@cargogo.com.au with your request. We will respond to all valid requests within 30 days, free of charge.
If you are not satisfied with our response to a privacy complaint, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Our website may occasionally link to third party services, including container finance providers, transport partners, or industry resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these external websites, and we encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third party sites you visit after leaving ours.

If we make material changes to how we handle your personal information, we will notify you via email (if you have an active account or order with us) or via a notice on our website homepage.
